    Description

Truly a Gorgeous Turquoise colored Bakelite Bracelet set!  This vintage bracelet lot is made up of six bangles: one is 1/2" wide with a 3/8" thick dome and the other five are 3/16" wide also with domed shapes. The 1/2" wide bangle weighs 25 grams and the 3/16" bangles weigh 7 grams each. All have the standard 2.5 interior diameter.
The bracelets are a rare end of day blend of turquoise, gold, brown, taupe, and white colored Bakelite in a beautiful marbled pattern the resembles the coloring found in a turquoise gemstone.
These bracelets have been restored by hand to their gorgeous original marbled turquoise colors. Over the years since they were made, the patina had oxidized to a dull pea soup green/brown color. (see photos # 9 &10 for the pre-restoration color and results of Simichrome polish test.)
This Vintage Bakelite bracelet lot is in excellent refurbished condition and their authenticity as Bakelite was confirmed using Simichrome polish pre-restoration. (See photo #10) No chips or cracks to any bracelet were found.
NOTE: As part of the refurbishment process, surface dirt and the discoloration of the Bakelite that occurs as it oxidizes from exposure to sunlight is removed.
Sunlight not only causes the color of the Bakelite to change, but sunlight also draws the chemical that reacts to the Simichrome polish in Bakelite to the surface. When testing with Simichrome polish, this chemical (pheno-formaldehyde) is what causes the chemical reaction that changes the pink color of the Simichrome polish to a nicotine yellow which indicates a positive result for Bakelite.
So until the bracelet has been exposed to sunlight for some period of time, the bracelet will not test positive with Simichrome polish.
